Conversation Classes clutter

Publié le 14 Décembre 2014

I have been hearing about conversation classes forever... or at least 30 years... and guess what ? Most of them haven't helped anyone in any way... Why ?

Because conversations lessons if they are only chatting periods do no teach anyone anything !

A proper conversation class, to be efficient, need to be organized at a certain minimum level, around a theme, with exercises and practice of the appropriate language and grammar... for lack of what they only go down the drain ! Not to mention that too often those conversations end up in the speaker's tongue... and not in the learning language !

I regularly get those conversation victims who think those conversation classes have helped them... and when I test them... they have in actual facts regressed ! And not progressed !

Our brain doesn't memorise chatter -or very little of it if any...

Our brain needs to understand and be offered things in a logical sort way that ids attractive all the while...

And if the student hasn't go a minimum conversational level so much the worse... and the waste of good time and money...

Most teachers will teach regardless of whether the students understand or not... and most students won't tell you when they don't understand... for fear of being judged or by sheer laziness... and those who are learning but did choose to learn will just agree to anything so long as the teacher doesn't bother them any further...

I always and systematically make it a point to check and test every point and progress in all of my classes, and more specifically even in conversation classes... and never start without a proper audit of the students and their needs and objectives...
