Offending Stain (excerpts)

Moving in that new flat hadn’t been easy… as removals go they are never an easy job and this one certainly confirmed the rule… Never Again were the words that sprung to mind whenever she her so much as the word was uttered in her presence… never again would still be too soon if you asked her… numb’s the word and so much the better…

And then, to top it all, the flat was a disgrace… whoever had left the place in such a state had no sense of social graces… filth filfth and filfth… nothing but filfth everywhere… even in the stealthiest way… she took matters in her own hands to make the place as close to cleanliness as to godliness… rub scrub wash it all away… dust dust dust come what may…

At the end of the day the place was sparkling… gleam clean glittering all over… all around…

She thought come the following weekend she will hold a big party to thank all the friends who had helped her and the family… to show them around her new place… her glittering prize of a home…

Every and everyone who knew anyone she knew came… the flat was overflowing with people swarming about… the neighbours cam too… and she was there sitting in the midst and the mist of them all when she saw a stain in the middle of the floor staring her in the eye… how could she have let that stain go unnoticed when she was doing all that cleaning ?

That stain had resisted !

That stain had found its way to display… to its place in this heaven of glam… and suddenly… all of a sudden… that stain was smearing the whole place over… the whole flat… the whole world… her whole universe… nobody could see anything but that stain… she was sure… they’d all go home to tell the world of her disgrace… she knew it… she was sure of it…
